Jane was at a teacher's meeting in Mesa, AZ on March 25.
Carol Petersen, a former member of the Well Prepared Pianist Institute,
wrote this poem which she read as part of Jane's introduction to the group
of teachers.
"We knew from the start
that music with heart
was taught by our brand new 'teach.'
So we sweat and we fret,
our notes were all bent,
as we dribbled and bounced our staccatos pronunced.
We glided our scales,
our wrists we assailed,
we jabbed as Jane opened our ears.
We made faces of clocks, turned door-knobs round,
made circles and bottoms of eggs --
and oh, how we dribbled and bounced!
The dream in Jane's heart touched our minds and our hands as we
tuned-up to join Jane's band.
To her great delight, some stuck it out,
and happily watching their students shine!
Repertoire Classes, House Concerts --
what a breath of fresh air.
'Memorize' no longer a chore!
The Simmering Pots were cooking a lot.
Red, orange, and yellow --
green, blue and purple --
what wonderful flavors we hear.
Now teaching's no chore and my life's not a bore,
thanks to Jane and her wonderful mission.
And A Day at the Zoo will never be the same
-- as we dribble and bounce our staccatos pronunced!"
