Hello friends of PianoTeams® and WPPI,
I have some important information about a recent change in the format of the NAU PianoTeams® Festival.
Our country's current economic recession has touched every aspect of everyone's daily living. And it has now greatly impacted many of our students, teachers, parents and PianoTeams® members. This crisis is preventing many teams from being able to participate. Until our country has recovered from this economic recession, the PianoTeams® "Competition" must be postphoned. This postponement will allow many teams to join when the economic crisis is over and conditions have recovered.
Inspite of the postponement for the competition, the Festival will go on! Instead of competing, all PianoTeams® will perform, and all members of performing PianoTeams® will receive medals. Master Classes will be held with each team after each performance.
As a special feature of the Festival this year, we will be holding an Intensive WPPI Training and Certification class. This is a course that normally takes one year to teach. We have many professors and piano students from US and China who are eagerly looking forward to either learn or refresh their knowledge and their teaching skills from this class.
Solo and PianoTeams® concerts are on schedule as planned. Two teachers' teams--including a Shanghai piano Professors' team--will perform Monday and Tuesday evenings. Master Classes, Story Suites and House Concerts will be scheduled as usual.
As always, rehearsals in the Concert Hall will be assigned to the PianoTeams® and their directors.
New abbreviated schedule for this festival is as follows:
Sunday, July 27 — • Arrival at NAU Music Building for Festival Registration
• Steinway of Phoenix Welcome Party in the evening
Monday, July 28 — • Solo Masterclasses, House Concerts, Story Suites & WPPI Intensive Certification Class.
Tuesday, July 29 — • PianoTeams® performances and masterclasses with N. Jane Tan
Monday, Tuesday — • Solo Lecture-Recital, Recitals and PianoTeams® concerts.
Wednesday, July 30 — • Departure from NAU.
